Heather is SiCK to day

January 3, 2006 By Andrew Hughes Leave a Comment

Heather called me this morning and said that she was feeling “dizzy”… She came back and rested for a couple of minutes. She then went up stairs to the bedroom and then right into the bathroom. Heather started puking. It was not a good sound. The funny thing is she ate a donut and that was the only thing that came back up. Poor girl! I will have to say hi to her in a few hours. Get better Heather!!!

PS3 Loaded with Bugs!

January 2, 2006 By Andrew Hughes Leave a Comment

taken from theinquirer.net

SONY MIGHT BE having a few problems with its forthcoming Playstation 3, which an industry deep throat claims is full of bugs and will not be ready for its March release date.

A deep throat for the online gaming mag Kotaku says that the beast has too many bugs and the games just are not ready yet.

The deep throat has a bit of credibility for coming out with some deep on market intelligence earlier in the year, so there might be something in what he says. The bloke claims that he had hands on experience with a prototype PS3 and it left much to be desired for a product that is supposed to hit the shops in a few months.

Kotaku claims that Sony is also allegedly having trouble with the PS3 graphics engine. Another insider claims you only have to look at the only footage of Playstation 3 code in motion to see the problems. He claimed that Sony miscalculated the added complexity of the cell infrastructure in its graphics engine and this was having adverse effects on development.

Either way, chances are the PS3 will either come out late with the games and most of its problems solved, or be out on time and a tad buggy.

iPod Shuffle Gone?

December 31, 2005 By Andrew Hughes Leave a Comment

taken from ipodnn.com

All signs point to the end of the iPod shuffle as we know it, according to a TheStreet.com columnist: “Apple Computer may be about to phase out — or replace — one of its low-end iPods, if the availability of the device on the company’s Web site – and through its retail partners — is any indication. Customers can no longer buy the one-gigabyte iPod shuffle through Apple’s Web store or through those of such leading online retailers as Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Circuit City. Apple’s Web store has been out of stock on the 1GB shuffle since mid-December, according to enthusiast site AppleInsider.com… In addition, a survey of 12 Apple retail stores chosen at random found that seven of them — including a store in Los Angeles and one in New York’s SoHo district — did not have the 1GB shuffle in stock and didn’t know when they would receive it.” The column notes that the Nano, which was expected to be available in limited quantities through the holiday season, were more available. Dwindling inventory is often a sign that company will replace the product.

“The company typically sells down inventory of models it plans to replace well in advance of actually introducing replacement models. Prior to introducing the flash-based nano in September, the company bled down its inventory of iPod minis, the model the nano supplanted. The strategy resulted in disappointing iPod shipments in the company’s fiscal fourth quarter.”

Apple’s website, which says that it will have stock in mid-December, may also provide some color on the future plans of the company maker. “That would come just after Macworld, the annual gathering of Apple product developers and enthusiasts. Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the Shuffle at Macworld last January.”

Gamecube out sold the XBox 360… Bullshit???

December 23, 2005 By Andrew Hughes Leave a Comment

taken from Gamasutra / Digg.com

Game software have increased once again in Japan, in what is generally the second busiest retail week of the year, with sales up 22 percent on last week, and 163 percent above the weekly average. This underlies a strong end to the year which looks set to continue into the next few weeks, with major releases such as Kingdom Hearts II and a new Nintendo DS Brain Training game yet to come.

The number one title was the latest in Namco’s Tales of role-playing series, with Tales of the Abyss recording an impressive 404,667 unit sales. Aided by the time of year and the tenth anniversary of the series in Japan, this is notably better than the performance of Tales of Legendia in August which recorded around 242,000 sales in its first week, as well as January’s Tales of Rebirth, which had approximately 335,000 units sold in the first week.

The rest of the chart, though, has been completely dominated by Nintendo format games, with no less than six first party titles from the publisher itself. Animal Crossing: Wild World recorded sales of above 100,000 for the third week running to come in at number two with 183,699 units sold, while Mario Kart DS also sold more than 100,000 in its second week with 145,666 units.
